Tony Steer, Director

Tony is a signal engineer with extensive experience. He has worked on many projects within LUL including the installation, test and commissioning of Northern, Jubilee and Central line projects. He has also provided signalling support for P-way projects. Tony is a Chartered Engineer, Licensed Tester in Charge and Principles Tester. He also has lead Auditor qualifications.

Tony is the company Assessing Agency Manager, representing SIMS highly respected licensing scheme.

Tony is actively involved in Principles Testing and TIC roles to keep up to date with changes within the industry.

Paul Heaffey, Director

Paul is a career signal engineer, joining London transport Executive in 1980 as a Signal Engineering Apprentice. He has held senior positions in most of the major firms in railway engineering including Westinghouse Signals and Tubelines and was Tester in Charge on the Jubilee Line extension and Heathrow Terminal 5 extension .

Paul is a licensed Principles Tester, Principles Designer and TIC and is actively involved in major projects as Commissioning Manager/Tester in Charge. Paul is responsible for the design activities within SIMS.

Mike Neave, Project Engineer

Mike is an experienced signal engineer, starting with London Transport in 1971 as a Trainee Technician. He progressed through the maintenance and new works departments ending up as Signal Manager of the Metropolitan Line before leaving LUL in 1995 to pursue a career in contracting.

He has since worked in a variety of roles on both the client and contractor sides on the Jubilee line Extension, worked for Westinghouse Rail Systems Ltd on their PPP contract and been the SIMS Project Engineer for Tube Lines replacement and remodelling of Wembley Park sidings.

He is a Chartered Engineer, IRSE licensed Tester in Charge and Functional Tester.

Ian Chalmers, Operations Manager.

Ian started his railway career as an installer and has learned his trade by working through the grades. He has extensive experience on Network Rail and LUL, being involved on the Jubilee Line Extension, TPWS, West Coast Main Line upgrade, Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Ian is involved in the operational running of the company, contract development and supervision and project development.

Ian is an IRSE licensed Tester in Charge, Functional Tester and Maintenance Tester.
